I always offered my highest praise to Him whenever I played my flute to Him...no matter how badly people commented on my playing on that day, I know He knows my sincerity! ;)

hi everyone been ages since ive been on here...sooooo busy... Praise God we are adding in numbers on this site!! ive been practicing hard and for my birthday my husband brought me my first flute!! (ive been using my student one he got for me for my wedding present, which has been well used and abused in my fumbled beginnings but i love it still!) ive been using the smart music site to pick up more practice tips and music and all sorts of classical and jazz music but they have just started putting some worship music on!! really good. im still find it hard to pick up the notes by ear but getting there!

welcome hayde i will try and post some music on but try the smart music website, also mission praise, also the music academy is fantastic too.

God bless you all keep praising God with every breath!!

It has been a while since I've been on here, I understand being busy, Karen, too much to do, and not enough time to do it in.  I am pleased to see so many join the group!  Christian Flute music is so hard to find, especially contemporary, I have learned to play by ear, for this reason.  I find the song on Youtube, or Godtube, and play it until I can get the melody down.  I'm not good at harmony or improvisation, but I can pick out the melody.  I don't have a good memory, so I write down the name of the notes above the lyrics for the song I am playing, kind of my own musical shorthand, so I don't have to remember the notes, just the tune.  I can play songs by Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Delirious, Robin Mark, Michael W. Smith.  Playing by ear has opened a whole new world of music to me.  I can read music, but I don't play piano or know much about music theory.  I add a few little grace notes or trills sometimes, but that's about the extent of my improvisation.  We don't have a big band though, there's just our worship leader on guitar, my daughter as vocalist, and myself as flautist/vocalist, we're a small church.  I really enjoy playing flute and singing for His Glory, it's so uplifting.  I am so glad to hear that more of you are playing "Praise Flute", it's an awesome feeling playing for the Lord!  God Bless you, and your music!

I find the best source of christian music is to go to a christian college website like Bob Jones Universty they have a lot, also try www.santorellapublications.com. I like to play duets with piano, and they are hard to find, but they are out their, I will share them with you all if interested.

Go to David E. Smith Publications,Deckerville Mi.48427 they have a book called Duets for Flutes based on Hymnbook Harmony, so all the piano player needs is the regular hymn book and you're in business, that is if you play duets which i do and solos. I like classical church music like bach and some of the old hymns because they are so good! And there is a web site out their, cost 37.00 a year but then you can get all there hymns, gospel, classical for free, like i just downloaded 36 pages of patriotic music for free, it was speicial because of the upcoming 4th. At least this will get you started, I can play by ear a lot of songs but some of these are really nice, you will enjoy them if you are into that kind of music. Dale
