I'd like to ask if anyone knows how to cure a dry mouth when playing the flute. Some people say this can be caused by nerves but I don't think it is that because it also happens at home when i'm practicing. I have tried cleaning my teeth before I play, drinking plenty of water, chewing gum before i play.....It was sooooo bad last night that at my lesson my top teeth stuck to the inside of my top lip. Please....has anyone any suggestions.

Wow. I've never had this problem. In fact, I have the opposite problem. Sorry, I don't have any ideas.

That happens to me when I'm nervous, and you can be nervous in lessons without even realizing it. Try to breathe steadier and deeper, or try breathing through your nose, that should help some small amount. Otherwise I'm not really sure what you could do. Maybe eat a piece of lemon before you practice?

what i do, especially if in concert, is bite my tounge. this may sound weird, but it gets your saliva glands going and wettens your mouth. hope this helps. :)

Give yourself an image of ware dripping from leaves in a beautiful autumnal wood. Or maybe something that fits the character and quality of the piece you're playing.
